2 days post op. Nose bleed

Been home for 2 days now and my nose is still bleeding. It is pea size clots when I blow. I have a huge sinus headache and a really dry nose. Is this normal? Also, where they put the tube in my throat, it's sore and scratchy still. Should it be?

As I understand it, it's not unusual for the tube to cause a sore throat, or cough, for a week or so following surgery ~ at only 3 days post-op, it's still very early days in that respect.

The best thing you can do about the nose bleed is to seek medical advice. I'm afraid I've no idea as to why you would have this. Will you let us know what you find out?

Take care.

hope youre feeling better soon. the scratchy throat is normal...your nose bleeds sound like a sinus infection. you should probably call your dr and see if you need an antibiotic.

ashortypie: I had nose bleeds too, it's probably from the Heparin injections you were given at the hospital. Mine did last for a week or so, after I came home from the hospital 8 days post op. I wouldn't worry too much about it, really. As long it's not running blood, that is.

Sore throat is also normal, 2 days post op, that would be expected. I've also experienced the same thing, several times after narcoses.

Chin up, sweetie!

Well, I talked to my nurse cousin and she says that it is common to have a dry nose after surgery. When sinusus get dry they bleed a little. I am just a little dehydrated and fluids will fix that. I did eat jello today!! Yea but I still don't feel like anything else. I quit taking my pain meds because they make me throw up.

Chocolate is better than jello, I suppose. Try that!

Ask for other painkillers, without morphine. (Is that correct written? Gee, english can be difficult, sometimes. ) You will need some pain medications, in the next weeks.

Get well, take it easy and remember to
