Freaking out ....

Dear BettyBoop,

It's me, again . . . .

I just read the thread titled, "If you had it to do over again . . . " which is also in this forum, more recent that your original post. Please go read that thread as soon as possible as it is very encouraging!

Take heart.

Freaking out ....

I'm having an LAVH this Thursday, 9/11. I'm trying not to think about the actual surgery but how great I'll feel after recovery. Everyone I know who has had this done has told me how great they feel after.

I've got non-stop bleeding (3 months now) - sometimes extremely heavy due to 5 golf-sized fibroids in my uterus. I'm almost 50, starting perimenopause and just want to be done with all this. I was just at the doctor again today because of extremely heavy non-stop bleeding all day yesterday into today. My hemoglobin has dropped again -- if it drops more by tomorrow I'll have to have a transfusion before the surgery. I can't even stand up right now because I'm so dizzy. I'm at the point that I'll do whatever it takes because I want my life back.

I'm sure I'll be nervous the night before. But I just keep focusing on the outcome!

Freaking out ....

*hugs*

In some ways I think I was lucky that my hyst was done as an emergancy, I found out on wednesday afternoon I had to have it and I was in recovery after surgery by noon on Friday, I didn't have time to freak out, I just went into a sort of numbed shocked state.

The best advice has already been given, read, read, read. This site is full of amazing information and just knowing others are in the exact same position you are is a terrific comfort.

Freaking out ....

I had my LAVH on July 29th and I was so freaked out before I went in. I had some trouble when I had my tubal and was so worried about being put under. I told the anestesiologist about my concerns and he was great. I remember the nurse wheeling me into the hall to go to surgery and telling me that it was time to say goodbye to my Mom and husband and the next thing I was waking up in my room. I don't even remember recovery. I was more upset about being put to sleep than the actual surgery. The 1st couple of days were rough but I felt pretty good by week two. I wish you all the best of luck and big hugs. If a HUGE crybaby like me can do okay then I'm sure you'll do great!

Freaking out ....

Hi, I'm new here but after reading you are having your surgery on the same day as me. Funny, the nightmares are very similar. I'm alright during the day but once my headhits that pillow, I can't sleep. The thoughts overcome my head and I can't get them out. And then I have nightmares. Had an enema nightmare. Won't even go into it. Was so weird. But I'm scared and I don't want to do it. So I keep reading all the posts and learning as much as I can.
