Incision really bothering me @ 4 weeks

Had TAH 4 weeks ago with vertical incision from bellybutton down. I'm small, so the incision is only about 6 inches total. I have noticed the last few days that my incision has become irritated and sore. Yes, I have started to wear real clothes, I can't wear sweats forever. But I have tried not to have anything rub up against it etc. I had no healing issues, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to how to relieve ths discomfort. Thanks.

If the insicion is closed -- try putting Vitamin E oil on it --
make sure that the underware the you are wearing ddoes not roll doown while sitting or doing stuff.

maybe look at the clothes that you are wearing - does it have a heavy zipper that lays right over the incision -- maybe try wearing something with a side zipper. or lighter zipper if it has to be on the front.

Vitamin e oil is very good and ice packs when you can too .. hope you feel beter

If your incision looks really red or "funny" in any way, I would check with the doctor. It is not unusual for the incision site to be sensitive for quite a while. I agree with the advice you've received so far - i also used ice and it was very soothing. Good luck!

I had the same issues, I put jojoba oil on it and use a prefolded diaper to cushion the area between my clothes and skin, was bulky but felt SOOO GOOD!!

Thank you all for your suggestions. I guess I am having difficulty mostly because of wearing "real" clothing. Going back to work soon and need to figure out how to be comfortable.
