lavh and episiotomy?????

Ok, probably a stupid question but here it goes. I am having a Lavh on Thursday and I keep hearing people talk about an episiotomy, I had one of those when I had my first child, do they have to do that again???? My Dr. never mentioned it. Also, how long before I will be able to get up and move around without alot of pain??? Please help, Im terrified!

There is no such thing as a stupid question! I don't think an episiotomy is standard practice during a LAVH but is probably something that is done when repairs are done. It is a good question for your doctor. If he didn't mention it, chances are you won't have one.

I had a TVH and so I didn't have any type of external incision(s) to deal with so I don't know about the pain involved with a LAVH. Some women report little to no pain while others experience more pain. In the hospital you will most likely get up and walk but you will have pain control that will help.
