Long Day

I sure had a long day today. It was pre-op day at the clinic & hospital.

I had my pre-physical first. Lots of blood tests, an EKG, thumping and poking and I'm a "helthy puppy"

Then i went for my admissions education program and talked and listened for an hour.Of course I was armed with my list of questions. I came away with inhalation jobby(to prevent anesthetic pneumonia) to practice on for the week ahead of surgery and a list of exercises.

Then on to the gyneclogical surgeon. I really liked this guy and am glad I took the nurse practitioner's recommendation. I like him better than the gyneclogist I had been assigned in previous visits. He explained everything and listened very well to my concerns. He did explain my surgery would be a little more complex because of my double utererus. He says this is only the second one he has done. They are extremely rare.

The only thing I wasn't happy to hear was that I may be there 4-5 days instead of 3. Once again because of the double uterus. Oh well. THis hospital assigns private rooms for women in the women's wing. They say the women seem to recover faster when in a private room. I'm glad, because I don't want to have to watch or listen to television. It agitates me. (what a grump!)

My family practisioner gave me a prescription to help me sleep before the surgery, just in case I need it. I hope I don't.

So that's how it went for me today. I have ot admit I was nervous about the pre-op. I haven't had much to do with doctors or hospitals. But I do feel better after talking to evryone.

On the whole, I felt good about how they treated me and I feel a little more secure about what's coming up.

It really makes a difference to feel that the health care people really DO care, and it sounds as if your experience will be a really good one!

And, you'll get 2 uterus' removed for the price of one :-)

You are really lucky to have the extra time in the castle. I took my CD player with the AC adaptor and listened to a lot of relaxing music. As long as you are in the castle they will feed you, clean up after you, and give you the pain meds you need.

Your pre-op was very extensive, and that should be comforting as well! They are covering all of the bases with your health!

I have my pre-op April 4th. I have many questions also and I am very nervious.
