Can't Take This Anymore!

Your story just goes to show how different people are and how what's a good solution for one would be a nightmare for another.

There is no way on earth I would fly off to a foreign country in order to have major surgery! It wouldn't even occur to me. I've always heard that the USA has the best medical care in the world. Not to mention the fact that traveling so far would be stressful even when in a healthy state. Traveling in your condition would be a unimaginable to me (both pre-op and post-op). I expect to suffer even on my short 10-minute ride home from the hospital--I'm sure I'll feel every bump. But you will have to recover in a hotel room? I want to recover safe and snug at home. You are a lot more adventurous than I am!

But you've no doubt checked it all out and know that this is the best solution for you. It's funny but usually women complain that the doctor pushes for hysterectomy too soon rather than wanting to try other, less invasive procedures. But since you're in a rush and your doctor wasn't, you have to look elsewhere. I still think you could find a doctor closer who would be willing to do the hysterectomy.

But since you have confidence in the doctors and hospital in India (and apparently you can afford the round-trip plane trip--I sure couldn't!), then this may work out great for you.

I'll be praying for you that all will go well. Be sure to post here after you get back home so we can all hear how it went.

God bless and best wishes!

Thank You for understanding my
position: I am un-insured due to
a horrid accident back in 2003.

Therefore I'm having to weigh
my budget on what/where I can
afford. Here in the USA I have already
spent well over $4,000 dollars "cash"
and haven't gotten anywhere ~
I'm feeling ignored, violated & neglected.
(wasteful spending)

So I've been researching outsourcing
medical care abroad. Which will cost
a small "fraction" as here in the states.
I've been quoted: $2,600 dollars for the
whole works, including 10 day all inclusive
hospital stay (pampering that one would
never get in the states)

With surgery; plane tickets and 3 week stay
the cost would be $7,540 total. Yes; for
both my husband and I....That I can afford;
versus $27,000+ here in the USA.

I will be staying in an Ex. delux room with
2 queen beds, fridge, mircrowave, living room
private full bath, all the comforts of home....
plus have my own personal privately appointed
RN/nightengale at my every beckNcall 24/7
I've been told they will even rub your feet if
you ask them to! How many nurses have
time to pamper you 100% when you ask?
how may surgeons give you their private
cell phone and home phone number???
and tell us to call them day or night if I
feel discomfort??? Now that is "service"

And they "do whatever you ask of them"
no waiting, no questions!!!

I will be able to recover at a beach resort
near the hospital!!! just in case....or I can
stay on within the "hospital" if I so choose,
venture out as I so please if I feel good....
and if I feel up to it, hubby and we can do
some sight seeing & Christmas shopping
while there... (surgery & vacation) LOL

I'm also going to have a porcelin crown
on a tooth while I already there: $ 80 bucks!
(dental bridges: $ 300-550 depends on
how many teeth you need fixed)

Heart By-Pass: $ 8,400
Hip Replacement: $4,600
Knee Replacement: $3,300
Hysterectomy: $2,600
Porcelin Dental Bridge: $300
Porcelin Crown: $80 bucks!

I haven't the need for plastic surgery
(boob or nose job) LOL they do all....
however I'm told that is also extremely
affordable as well.....

yes it's cheap over there, but their success
rate is 99% / infection rates are lower than
American hospitals, Apollo & Bumrungrad
are considered two of the best in the world
and have recieved many awards stating so.

This is why so many American's are flocking
over there. (even folks with great insurance
coverage) As one will never recieve this "kind
of care or pampering" in the states....
not at this price anyways/for a 5 star hospital.

Remember I've already spent over $4,000
being forced to endure their Medical Protocol
of HRT, emergency room hospital & several
doctor appointments & expensive medications
here in the US for nothing / no relief, no help,
no answers, and lastly, no positive outcome.
All the while I am suffering & bleeding out
terribly, and the pain, oh Lord the pain is
about enough to put a gal to her knees.....

I can't wait to endure another 6 months
of my GYN's lets do this step first, ok
that didnt' work, so lets try this next...
all his "testings" findings; and medications
have put me on a "emotional roller-coaster"
I've been suffering horribly for 4 years
and I'm so tired of it... so tired of being
ignored & neglected.

I'm protected by: Jesus Christ Mutual Life
I'm in 'good hands" wish me the best over
there; I'm excited to finally beable to look
forward to having my "life back"

God Bless
Ronda

Can't Take This Anymore!

That is really something! After reading your latest post, I did a Google search and found sites on medical tourism. I had never heard of this before. I guess I'm out of it. Here is link to a good article and video clip about it for anyone else who is clueless about this trend in medical care:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/...in689998.shtml

They say you get "first-rate medical care at third-world prices." India charges only 10% of the cost that USA does and most people say the care is much better than you'd get here.

The only downsides they mentioned were:
"Sound too good to be true? Don't forget: It’s at least a 20-hour trip, there is malaria in parts of India, patients have complained of intestinal disorders -- and if something goes wrong, you could end up suing for malpractice in an Indian court."

But apparently the great majority of patients are very happy with their experience and would do it again. The above article ending by saying it was like "combining surgery and paradise."

Well, I have sure learned something new today! This does sound like a great alternative, especially for uninsured people.

I'm looking forward to hearing how it all turns out for you, Ronda. Best wishes!
