just like the sisters say, the waiting is the worst! Followed closely by not "over doing it" after. It's way harder than I thought!

Anyway, about the post op pain. Can you get a spinal in addition to general anesthesia? It makes it so that when you wake up, you don't have big huge pain in your belly. I had it, and although it wore off quickly when I was put into my room after, I didn't have huge pain as soon as I woke up, and did not have a pain pump device. I think if I would have had the morphine pump only, it would hae made me nauseus and really out of it. What I did have was one shot of IV toradol, oral percocet and morphine IV several times during my 48 hr post op stay. went home on percoset, and 800 mg ibuprophen. Gas does press against your sore insides, (and still does for me) but I have not found it to be unbearable. Do take the stool softeners religiously.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Homeny- YOu will be fine. I promise. I too had alot of anxiety just prior to my surgery (I had never had any kind of surgery before). Most patients feel great after 2 weeks. sore, moving slow, but feeling good. She always has her patients take Senna Plus, it is a mild laxative AND stool softener. You take it twice daily. Workes wonderfully! I know from experience- I had my Vag Hyst and cystocele repair on Feb 04. Gas pain is very common- get your self a couple boxes of Gas-X, and take as directed. Also talk to your doc about taking NSAIDS post op- it really really helps with inflammation (which is the leading cause of most post-op pain) Either Aleve twice daily, or 800mg ibuprofen three times daily. YOu are in my prayers.
