I feel so relieved

After reading all of the posts... I no longer feel alone. I started out blaming myself for taking the Depo Provera shot for over 10 years... (no side effects, no mention of the period returning for over a year) so I have felt like my hysterectomy (8/31) could have been avoided. I read alot of posts that mention because of the Depo shot. At 42, it does seem sad that there wont be anymore babies,, in reality, there wouldn't have been anyway..

I should and do feel relieved that I will not die from cervical or uterine cancer. I feel relieved knowing that there will not be anymore vacations ruined by bleeding through and the horrendous cramping..

I am happy that for Christmas this year we are buying a nice big bedroom set b/c the fear of ruining a fancy mattress is gone!!

So, yes, overall I do feel relieved to have my Lap/ vaginal hyster (keeping ovaries).

" it does seem sad that there wont be anymore babies,, in reality, there wouldn't have been anyway.. " I cried right now as I read this. EXACTLY how I felt. And as far as Depo Provero?? I was on it for 8 straight years after my son was born, then went off it to try to have another...and instead, no luck. How do you feel the Depo plays a part in this journey?

Re: I feel so relieved

Depo has NO warnings other than bone loss, and "it may take up to a year to become pregnant" Nothing about bleeding until you become anemic, nothing about bleeding for a year straight. So many of these posts say that they have been on Depo for years. I definately see a pattern in the long term Depo usage resulting in hysterectomies.

Re: I feel so relieved

I had the Mirena IUD and it was no barrel of laughs either. It is very hard to find the official info about the negative effects as well. I felt soooo much better once I had it removed (my body.was spitting a second one out anyway). The hormone withdrawal was awful! There have been tons of women reporting major issues post Mirena as well!! My issues started before hand though and the IUD was supposed to help but it didn't by a long shot!

Re: I feel so relieved

I had the mirena for the past three years. Never did anything positive. Irregular bleeding (for months at a time). Horrible cramping. Finally got tired of the bleeding and went to the dr. She tried adding bc pills. It made it so much worse! I was in so much pain. So here we go...... All but the ovaries are out this coming Thursday ! Hope I get good results!
