Don't be too curious! Hysterectomy videos!

So I decided I was curious n searched my type of surgery on YouTube!!! So dumb!! I'm a nurse and assist with minor surgery every day at work.. Blood does not bother me... Had a hand surgery a couple years back and youtubed that without a problem... Well now I'm traumatized and horrified!!! I did not finish the video... To add insult to injury it looked like it was probably foreign and had some horrible 70s porno background music... If I wasn't so traumatized by the situation I would probably laugh... I was just going to watch it from my phone but we have Apple TV so it automatically went to the big screen tv...so that just made it worse... I just sat there cringing holding my lower abdomen thinking no wonder I hurt so bad... So ladies if your curious don't be!!! Some things you just never need to see!!

Re: Don't be too curious!!!

Yes I watched my surgery as well. I guess us ladies with medical backgrounds just can't resist. I watched a you tube video a few weeks before I went in and thought OMG no wonder I cant do anything for 6 weeks. Yes it was a bit shocking. I watched a different video of the same surgery just last week. I was a reminder why I shouldn't push myself. It was shocking watching it the second time, but this time in more of a interesting/fascinating way.

Re: Don't be too curious!!!

I watched and I was so intrigued! I'm not medical, but I am an engineer, so I guess that explains my very curious nature Tried to get my man to watch, but he wouldn't. I think I saw the one you referred to as well - with the bad music!

Re: Don't be too curious!!!

I was just not getting it! Why am I taking so long to feel better? At 3-4 weeks I wasn't anywhere near feeling good.

I was browsing info on this, and I came across a video of the davinci surgery. It is totally clear to me now why I feel like I do. There is so much cutting, burning, pulling, stitching, etc. I was shocked. And when they put the 5 arms of the robot in, all I can say is---it doesn't look too gentle to say the least.

I agree with Tpw. If you do not have a strong stomach it is probably better to just leave it to the imagination.

This video will not go well with !!!!

Re: Don't be too curious!!!

I'm a unit clerk and generally find medical procedures to be interesting. I have tried watching my surgery 3 times but can't do it. It makes me physically sick to imagine that was done to me while I was unconscious. Our poor vaginas!

Re: Don't be too curious!!!

I did the same thing! I got to the party when they start separating the top of the uterus and had to stop. Especially watching them cauterize the muscles. Blah!

Re: Don't be too curious!!!

I did this last night because I couldn't sleep. I could only watch a little of it, too. And definitely now I understand why I'm still so sore down there.

Re: Don't be too curious!!!

I thought about watching it but I decided against it, for now. I think it would really upset me & I'm not comfortable at all about having stiches inside me & staples outside of me.
