Both ovaries?

I just found this web site and it has been a great help to me. I don't think my DH undertood the scope of the surgery until I had him read to read info you have. I am scheduled for TVH if possible (if not TAH) on 8/23/06. I cannot get a clear answer on why they have to take both my ovaries. I believe it has something to do with me having server dysplasia that was also outside the parimiter of the cone biospy.

I am nervous about all I have to get done before my surgery, I am going away on vacation 8/12 to 8/19 so I looose a week there to get ready but I think I will need my week by the lake. School starts a week after my surgery, so supplies need to get purchased and I only have 3 weeks sick vacation time left for after,My employer is looking into the short term disability policy but I am nervous about our bills, nothing to fall back on.
My MIL is going to come stay with me for a week or until I get tired of her but she is legaly blind so cooking is not much of an option there.

My Gyn wanted to do this earlieer but I wanted to take my vacation, which is already paid for. I also have camping trips planned. HELP, I know this will all work out but I am starting to stress.

Any words on the ovaries and/or encouragement would be welcomed.

Both ovaries?

Well, my advice is always, always speak candidly to your doc, research to pieces and read and ask as much here as possible. My ovaries were plump, healthy and working. Never an ovarian cyst or issue. All my jazz was because of a yucky uterus, so my choice was easy. I am 41 and since the median age for menopause is 51, my doc and I decided to keep them. If I had ANY doubt, complication or ovary questions or issues, they'd be history. I had a TVH although given the size of my uterus, I was a 50/50 on waking up to a TAH. I have recovered SUPER well, have bounced back to my hyper self It is amazing how great one can feel when one is not hemmoraging to death!! You will hear a lot that the waiting is the hardest part. Trust me, because I am on the other side-it is true. Try to relax and not over stress getting ready. I did it all and had to be reminded that I was not going away to live on an island! Today was my first driving day (freedom!!) and I just made up one errand to get out. As you cook, freeze extra helpings, wash every piece of comfy laundry you own and make a Target run to load up on extra toiletries and other household items and do not overpack for the castle. Do not let this weigh on your mind and ruin your vacation. Perhaps allow yourself 30 minutes a day to worry and try to do something constructive like making a list for that Target run, meals you may want to freeze or even write down the stuff you are worried about. It is amazing how much more manageable worries are when they are lasso-ed out of your head and are put down on paper. You will sail through this like I did! Just get to that researching and doc talks (these will automatically rest the wild thoughts!) and enjoy the peacefulness of the lake. Blessings to you, sister!!!
