painful sex and bulge

I love going to a doctor and leaving $$ short and feeling like a moron/hypocondriac. My problem is that since my TAH in Dec 09 I have had a bulge to the left side upper side of my incision and also while sex has improved a great deal now one of our old positions is unbearable. If i am lying on my stomach during for intercourse it feels like I am being ripped apart and we must immediately change position. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm willing to see a different dr (our insurance changed in Jan and i can't see my surgeon :O( ) but I dont want to waste money if I'm really just crazy or rushing recovery. Thanks ladies!!

I don't want to be an alarmist and don't really know as much as I could (like the other members here) but I think that you should see your doctor. I don't think your concern sounds crazy or moronic. I'd be asking the same question. Good luck. I hope that you get an answer because that situation bites.

I went to a Kaiser gyn a couple weeks ago and he just kept looking at me like i was speaking martian. Claimed he couldnt even see the bulge and his nurse finally said "its right there." He said my vagina was healed great and thats all he seemed to have time for :O(

Holy mackeral. So no referral for an MRI or CT scan or anything? That's amazing. So all he was worried about was the healing in that area. Sounds like time for a new doc definitely.

I don't think you are crazy or rushing recovery at all. You shouldn't have a bulge beside your incision...you could have a hernia...my friend had one after her TAH! The painful sex though...could be because you are fairly early in your recovery...hang in there and hope you can get into another dr. soon!

I ma so sorry for your pain. This surgery stuff is really scary. The bulge could possibly be a hematoma. I had one in the hospital, fortunately it bled outside of my body out of my belly button incision. From what I understand, hematomas are caused my the cutting, therefore it would make sense that it is near where your incision was. My friend had one and she said is was very painful, but she just had to wait it out and let her body reabsorb it. Please have someone look at it. They can determine by an ultrasound. Good Luck!

I am so sorry you had such a frustrating doctors visit. definitely time to see a different doc! he obviously doesnt care! If his nurse could see the bulge and he couldnt?? ***????

maybe you could call your surgeon's office and ask for a recommendation for a doc under your new insurance??
