I go back to work on Friday and I'll have been off work for 18 weeks.
And yes I needed it.

Everyone is different. Depends on nature of the job and how you are healing and how tired you get. 8 weeks is not a long time, this is a major operation.

I greatly appreciate all of your inputs and have given me a better perspective of things. It's funny I started my period yesterday and today the flow and pain is horrible and my supervisor came to me today and telling me to translate this morning after I told him I was feeling horrible. I hate to have to respond in a strong manner but I have to think about me. So yes I could see how coming back too early can slow or harm my healing. So on my pre-op appt I'll ask my doctor how much time could he give me based on my job functions. As a translator here at work it is a high demand and is a priority.
