embarrassing question

Hello out there, I hope someone can enlighten me as I'm in some pain. I'm 40. Due to cervical cancer, I had a complete hysterectomy this past November (not vaginal). All went well and I've been feeling great lately, dealing with the menopause. My husband and I resumed intercourse and that was good but as we had always used condoms we didn't really know what to do without them. My husband thinks he should ejaculate into a paper towel since now that I don't have a period how will it all come out. I thought that was silly but now I'm not sure. Several days ago we had intercourse and I woke up in the night feeling crampish which was odd. In the morning when I stood up it was worse and I was bleeding bright red blood. The cramping led to a discharge of what appeared to be tissue the size of a quarter. For the past three days the cramps are worse and I am nauseated from it. I made an appointment with the gyne later in the week but I wonder if I have an infection. Maybe my husband was right? Anybody know about this?

embarrassing question

It sounds like granulation, which is an unhealed spot that will bleed and cause some discharge. Your doctor can do a silver nitrate treatment and you will be good as gold. I am having a treatment tomorrow due to bleeding and discomfort after intercourse. I have a spot that has not healed. Good luck!

embarrassing question

Hi smcarney,

I'm so sorry you're having all this pain. I have had the cramps after intercourse, but didn't have the pain continue, it let up the next day.
I don't think your bleeding and discharge have anything to do with what your dh said. Lots of us have sex and don't do anything differently and we don't end up in pain because of it. There is an article in the post op articles on this subject Where do the sperm go?
It does sound like something happened that needs to be checked. If you continue to hurt and feel sick from this I think you should call and see if you can get in sooner.
Please let us know what you find out and I hope you feel better sooner.

's, Rita

silver nitrate

well, you were right, I did get the silver nitrate. It wasn't too painful when my gyne did it but for the past 4 days I've been in extreme cramping pain. I feel like my body is trying to pass something but can't. I haven't had the sooty discharge I was told about but 2 days in a small drop of blood and pink tissue when i go. Not sure if I should be concerned or if this is normal as the doctor didn't say much. I've been having killer hot flashes and night sweatss since and feel on the verge of fainting or vomitting. Any of you vets have a similar experience?
