LSH surgery
I just had LSH surgery on 5/13. And yes, I went through a variety of emotions before the surgery. What helped me get through it is this website, the wonderful people who are here, and knowing that I will be getting my life back after I heal! So, imagine what your life will be after you have recoverd and visit this website often.
I wanted to let all the LSH pre-op people know that it wasn't that bad at all. Yes, this may not be the case for you, but this is what I went through -- and it is possible that it may be the same for you too : )
The surgery team is really friendly, understands what you are going through, and talks to you about stuff to help you relax and feel comfortable. Also, when you get your IV they can add stuff to help you relax a little more -- made me feel more calm but not in a drugged up kind of way. Also, they can put an anti-nausea patch on behind your ear.
After we got into the surgery room, the next thing I knew I was in the recovery room. I felt like I just woke up from a really good nap on the couch. My pain level was low (at a 1 to zero). I just feel a little sore. I never needed a strong pain med, I just have been taking ibuprophin.
This could be your story too. Hang in there, and day dream on what your life will be after you have recovered! Soon it will be your reality : )
