Gas and constipation - any suggestions?

Hi ladies,
I wanted to say thankyou, I was able to read your posts and it really helped calm me before the surgery. I am three days post op and walking around. My biggest discomfort is the gas that is still rumbling around and constipation. Any suggestions?

Keep walking as much as you can and drink lots of water! It goes away in a couple of days. Glad to hear you are recovering well. I still am having constipation and a little gas, but I just take a dose of miralax and that helps a ton : )

I can remember the dreadful wind for the first few days!
I was in hospital for 3 1/2 days before discharge. I kept walking round trying to get rid of it, but I was brought up not to "break wind" in public ankept dashing into the toilet!

The other ladies thought it very funny as they all had the same problem, but not the same hang-ups.

Once I got home, to my OWN toilet, I was able to relieve myself of the wind, and have my first BM.
Such a relief.

Walking and water were my best friends! Gosh, I felt like I would explode. Once home I took a stool softer for a few days and it was much better. i know it is hard but rememb this too will pass.

I'm 18 days post op, I found that ginger ale helped me to burp, walking & water. As for constipation is took a stool softner helped me so much. I tried prune juice days b4 the stool softner & that had me cramping terrible it was worse than the pain from surgery. Good luck with ur recovery!

I'd recommend a combination of Gas-X for the gas, and eating high fiber foods, prunes and taking some Miralx for the constipation. I never had constipation issues before the surgery but am really having to eat fiber and prunes to get things moving, the Miralax is very gentle and effective. Hope you feel better asap. :0
