3 weeks post hysterectomy: Kept ovaries - Mood swings??

I kept both ovaries, just had the uterus and cervix removed. I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and one minute I'm fine and the next I want to smash things. I'm not thinking about self harm or harming other people, it's just the littlest things get on my nerves now. I find myself screaming at my kids to be quiet. I don't want to scare them. I'm going to call my dr office tomorrow and talk with a nurse. Has anyone been on meds for this or is it some time kinda thing, I don't know how much more I can handle.

Yup. First 4 weeks awful. Urges to cry and throw things are getting less frequent. Doc said ovaries need to settle as blood supply disrupted and gave me estrogen to use as needed. That helped with hot flashes more than mood swings tho. Ask ur doc if you need some HRT on a temp basis. It might help

Dr already said she'd be against HRT because of cancer in my family. So I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

Re: Mood swings??

I'm two weeks post op LAVH and bladder lift and I know where you're coming from. Watching Will & Grace this morning I started to cry and then next minute was laughing. I have had feelings of poor me and anxiety as well. I think it's just our bodies readjusting to this major change. It's going to get better girl 👍

Re: Mood swings??

Has anyone been on anti-anxiety meds for this? Even for a short period of time? There are times I feel like I'm just going to lose it by being in the grocery store, not that many people have to be there, just I feel suffocated.
