5 1/2 weeks post op TAH-BSO 3/27

Hi all,
Haven't posted much lately. I so enjoy reading posts & realizing I am so not alone in all that I am feeling (physically & mentally). Yesterday was my 5 wk post op check-up. I'm back to full activities as of next Weds & back to work on May 12th. I too, have mixed emotions about going back to work. Can't stay home forever. Can't afford to live on disability. I still have good days/bad days. Days I feel depressed & give into it & other days when I fight it & push myself. I'm much better being around people - my dog is going to need anti-depressants when I go back to work! I still feel twinges here & there. Started working out with weights the other day & have bad shoulder pain again. Had this the week after surgery for the first time & now its back. Have no idea what it is from.
I had major complications with my surgery & am putting it all behind me & moving forward. To those who have not had their post op exam yet - just breathe - its really not bad at all. I was more anxious about getting answers to my list of questions! If its one thing I learned the past 5 weeks is to give in to what your body needs. If your tired rest, if you feel good - do something you like (within reason).
Hope you are all having a peaceful day.

Hi, Jo. I know what you mean about going back to work; its fast approaching for me, too. Its like re-entering the atmosphere. I get a little anxious when I consider that reality is going to hit all at once and at 100 miles per hour......forty hour weeks, carpooling kids, cooking dinner, etc.
The biggest shock to me about this experience is that it was not all all JUST physical, but emotionally and mentally taxing as well. My emotions have been all over the map, and the tiredness can be overwhelming. I'm sure when we go back to work we will all long sometimes for the days when all we had to do is rest (although when we are IN those days, we sometimes get bored!)
Best of luck to you-
