PMS Good news, Bad news

Tell you what... some folks are being pretty creative in finding new ways to tick me off today

But, deep down I know it's just the hormones talking. Don't get me wrong, these particular people are always jerks, I am just usually better about shrugging it off...

Good News... this is my second to last PMS episode

Hang in there fellow

Just curious--are you having surgery soon? Ovaries staying or going?

Just remember

Hi, try to remember that after surgery your hormones are going to go crazy for a while before you and your Doc decided whether you should take HRT's or not.

I know right after my surgery 2 weeks ago I started night sweat, mood swings From H*** and Hot flashes that seemed like I was in the desert.

I know you will be better in a few weeks. I hope all goes well for you and look forward to seeing you here again.

TAH with probable BSO to be scheduled for 3rd week in November for severe endo. [Surgery schedule for November is opened about the 1st week in October. I'll post my date when I get it.]

One ovary might stay, if it is "uninvolved" in the endo, but that is unlikely. If one stays and I am still having problems (physical or emotional), the doc says he'll remove it through a lap at a later time, but he'd like to give me a shot a keeping an ovary.

I am 35. I have only had PMS for around 6 years. We were on vacation last month during my PMS timeframe and I was the normal me - not the PMS me (even my husband thought agreed). So, stress is definitely a factor for me.

I am just glad to have a place to come and post and get some of my feelings out, rather than playing them back in my mind over and over and over.

So thanks, gals, for listening and for replying.

this is the place

you found the place just to steam if you wish I have done my share with fear and joy so go for it. I understand about the pms I didn't get it badly until after my first child that was 7 years ago. It got worse after my second and last. I am 37 know and my DH thinks I have gone nuts but he understands sometimes.

good luck  Betsy

PMS actually does start in the 30s or thereabouts, presumably to falling progesterone levels. If one of your ovaries is so bad now, it's probably not working anyway. I do hope you can save the other. I had the same thing. One ovary was a mess. The other, however, turned out to be fine.

You may still experience PMS even though you'll be done with your periods. I supplement with progesterone and overall have felt fine. But I can still tell when I should be cycling. Not to as great a degree as before, but I still get extra hungry about 10 days "before," there's a couple days when everyone in the world bugs me, and there's a few days of breast tenderness each month. I repeat, all this is to a much lesser degree than it was before surgery, but it's still there. If you lose both ovaries, it might be different. And don't worry about it until it happens. Not all women have a bad experience with menopause or surgical menopause. We only hear about the bad stuff. Some women sail right through it.

You will be so happy when the surgery is over--you'll feel like a brand new person. Trust me!!

PMS Good news, Bad news

I am 32 and started having PMS after my first child (now 5) and it got worse after my second (soon to be 3). I can even tell a day prior to ovulation because of my major mood swings. My hubby has gotten used to it and his big hope is that after the TAH/BSO that maybe the PMS will go away. I told him that we can hope but only time will tell. I am hoping too...since I am only nice about one week out of the month.

the thing to remember is, if you do keep one ovary, you will still have fluctuating hormone levels just like before, so you may still experience PMS. I kept both ovaries and each month, I retain water for about 2 days and then it is over with. I get the associated mood swings & everything, just no more massive flooding or cramps! So there are some very good points to all of this. I still think it is the best thing I ever did!
