anybody left with one ovary?

Don't worry too much. It took my 1 ovary about a month before it started doing a good job. Had a lot of symptoms of meno. before 4 weeks. All is well now....almost 6 weeks!

one ovary

I have my left ovary and it seems to be working fine. Had some problems a couple of weeks after surgery but it passed (I was told the ovary was probably in shock at that point)

anybody left with one ovary?

I had my right ovary removed 14 years ago when I was 33, due to very painful endo cysts. It was so large that they had to take it out through an abdomendal incision. Never noticed a difference without it. On 4/25/2007 had a sub-total hysterectomy (cervix was left) due to huge fibroids and he took my left ovary since is was now full of cysts too. Now I am getting hot flashes, though not bad. I did start on HRT which relieves my issues. So you are lucky and should be fine with just the one ovary. Should naturally go into menopause.

anybody left with one ovary?

I had a 6mm cyst on my left ovary (roughly the size of a softball) so I knew going in that it would be removed. They were able to save my right ovary though and we haven't even discussed HRT. My surgeon told me that as long as I have one functioning ovary, I should be okay but they will test my hormone levels every 3-6 months for the first couple of years at least. I'm now at risk of losing my right ovary as well because it's still "asleep" from surgery but I have never felt better (emotionally) in my life so I told her that I will only consider HRT if things get bad. I don't want to ruin a good thing. When you go from severe depression, social anxiety disorder, and agoraphobia to feeling GREAT, going places, being around people, etc. it's not something you want to mess with. lol She's not going to push HRT though, said it's my choice (duh lol) and she'll support me either way. My MIL never used HRT either and 30 years later, still has never needed them. This isn't for everyone but there is a slight chance.
