TAH 2 weeks and still sore

Hey Ladies...

Well, here I am 2 weeks out. I'm still very sore, although it is getting better. I had my follow up last week and I was still having more problems than either I or the Dr liked. I was having a problem with my left side not feeling much different than it did before surgery. I was told that sometimes when they are "tying" off they get a nerve involved. I was given a shot in the area (lower left abdomen) of a numbing agent and a high powered steroid. The right side is hurting also, although not to the extent of the left. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this kind of difficulty and if so, how long before it was better or went away? BTW... the shot helped, just not as much as I'd like. Ohh and how long before the incision isn't so sore that I feel like I need to tippy toe when I walk?? LOL!

Sounds like you are having it a bit rough. I am sorry about that. The incision pain is different with everyone but mine stopped the pulling pain at about 10 days out. Other ladies say it takes longer for them. I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry you are in a rough spot. I was in serious pain for almost 4 weeks after my TAH. Taking prescription pain meds around the clock. The pulling and stinging and tugging lasted several months for me. I was something of a slow healer.

Hang in there, it will get better! But at 2 weeks you are still very early in your recovery!

Thanks Ladies! Yea, I've been having a pretty rough go of it. I'm used to bouncing back from things pretty quickly and that isn't happening. Today has been better than most and I've managed to hold back from doing too much. I've also had some problems with being nauseas after eating. ugh... I'm ready to get past all of this!

My recovery took to much longer than I thought it would. But it was worth it and no regrets. One day at a time!
