Anyone here have the Hydrothermal Ablation ?

Hi laides,
Tatertottaryn, what did you decide? I actually had the Hydrothermal Ablation (Thermachoice) done two weeks ago. I decided if I had two options, I may a well try this first. Not too crazy about it however I thought it was best.
I have had discharge for the entire 2 weeks now. Heavy however somewhat light pink in color for the most part. It is lighter now and will hopefully stop soon.
We will see what is next for me. Recovery was easy. I am glad I did it. I know it is not an end-all but we will see.
Take care, and enjoy the spring weather (rain is what we call spring here in Iowa!) glen

Ablation

Hello-
I was so excited to have the procedure and get my life back! I had it done on 5/21/08. It went fine. No major cramps, discharge, anything. I was so happy. But then comes 07/11/08 - Just like the procedure was never done! Period comes on full force! GRRR! All that and I had a one month break. Anyone now if there is a chance this is just a fluke and it will stop and never come back again or did the procedure just fail? I was just in for my post op check last week and told the doctor how happy I was! WOW, my feeling has changed. I cried, I was so disappointed! Advice anyone?
Thanks!

Anyone here have the Hydrothermal Ablation ?

I am so sorry for you. I have heard this more than once. It has been 2 months for me now. I did have my period on 6/27. (apparently you nor I are not the 30% that never gets it again)
It was not as heavy as it used to be and the clots were less, but it lasted 7 days and was still a pain. If it stays this way, I will be OK with it but I am afraid it will not.
Hopefully it will lighten up for you with in time. I know it seams impossible but we can sure hope right?!
Keep us updated. I will praying for you and some RELIEF!

Anyone here have the Hydrothermal Ablation ?

Thank you for the responses! I don't know what to do next. I am a high risk surgery because of a previous complication with pulmonary emboli so doctor's are very leary when we discuss surgery. Why didn't this just work for me!!!! Oh well.

Anyone here have the Hydrothermal Ablation ?

I had an ablation in November of 06 I was not one of the lucky ones who's periods stopped but they did go down to a normal flow for about 5 months. Then it was back to the same ol routine until by May of this year I had been spotting for 38 days then about bled to death in 3 days following that. Doc said "well, plan B" So had TAH the 16th. Wish I had done it back in 06 when I had the choice of the two. It does make me feel better tho to see I am not the ONLY one it didn't work for. Geez all the ads and literature leads you to believe ablation is a cure all blessing but looks like it isn't for alot of people and not just me.
Wish I had known that beforehand.

Anyone here have the Hydrothermal Ablation ?

Please before you agree to the ablation, please reseach your issues and the success of the ablation. There are lots of success stories out there and you wont find many of them on this site as we are here because it failed.

Had i researched I would have known that my issues have a low rate of success and I would have opted for anything else.

Now I am down to one choice, hyst.

My procesure was the nova sure ablation

Anyone here have the Hydrothermal Ablation ?

Thank you for your note. I had read a lot of success stories and I was really psyched for the procedure and sure I was going to have a positive outcome! But unfortunately I didn't. I guess I will just see how things go for the next few months before consulting with my doc again. Good luck to you if you go through with the hyst. I wish you the best!

Thank you!

I am so happy I found this site. My doctor just told me about HTA on Friday and I have been trying to decide what I want to do. I had a Mirena placed 2 years ago and it gave me about a 40-50% relief of the bleeding, but I recently discovered that it is not quite in the right place (because a fibroid bulging against the uterus is blocking its path) and there was talk of removing/replacing it. My doctor felt that it would be too difficult to try to maneuver it around the fibroid "hill" and if it's providing some relief, then it would be better to leave it alone and consider the next step up if I want a better outcome. (He did not believe that replacing it would give me any better relief than what I already have.) So...he told me about HTA. I notice that several people are saying they did not have long-term relief from ablation. Did you all specifically have HTA? The reason I ask is that HTA is the only one that can guarantee contact with all the endometrial tissue. The other ablations cannot guarantee this when the uterus is shaped oddly (like mine with fibroids creating bulges) or is large and so oftentimes, some tissue is left behind. I'd love to hear from those who have had HTA specifically. Tatertot - how are you doing?
