alcohol night before surgery????

Had my preop today and we talked about not eating or drinking after midnight before surgery, BUT, we didn't discuss alcohol. Does anyone know the rule on drinking alcohol before surgery or anesthesia......????? I do have a call into the pre op department but I havene't heard from them yet?????? Just wondering if I can have a glass of wine or a margarita the night(s) before my surgery which is on this Saturday.

My sheet they sent home with me for preop said no alcohol 48 before surgery.I would double check with your dr.Hope this helps.

My doctor told me I could drink up till 9pm the night before. But everyone's surgery is different, check with the preadmission office or the doctor.

Abstaining from alcohol in the prior to your surgery is very important. You'll be given anesthesia and painkillers, and your liver will need tdo work effeciently to eliminate these from your system.

Do NOT drink any type of alcohol the night before your surgery. It could interfere with anesthesia.

thanks ladies....I'll save that glass of wine for a few weeks after the surgery......."and celebrate my mini tummy tuck"...... I was reading what my other hyster sisters wrote about their tucks and I was so jealous so I talked to my doctor at the pre op and he said he will do a mini tummy tuck at no extra charge....he is my regular gyno. So, we'll just wait and celebrate the results..... Love to you all...going to the castle in two days.
