pain in thighs and groin

Hi everyone, I am new to the site. I am schedule for my hysterectomy on December 3rd. I have had excruiating pain in my groin area and inner thighs. I have an enlarged uterus and fibroids. Has anyone else had this type of pain? My doctor tells me this is not normal so just wondering?

Re: pain in thighs and groin

I was scheduled for a laproscopic hysterectomy on 10/25 due to a large fibroid. Due to complications from prior c sections I ended up with an open incision hysterectomy. I had pain in my groin that I was concerned about. I'm 3 weeks post op and haven't had any pain in that area since my surgery. I guess time with tell, but my fibroid was very large and was sitting on that side of my body. Hopefully I'll no longer have that pain. Best of luck to you.

Re: pain in thighs and groin

I had a uterine ablation Dec 2009. The next month, I started w/intermittent pain or burning in my inner thighs. It seemed to be before my period for a few days. I didn't think anything of it until it didn't go away starting in Sept 2010. Comes on like a cramping pain in groins. PCP sent me for a MRI to rule out a lumbar/nerve problem. My gyno says it could be from ablation, my endr, fibroids and/or ovarian cyst??? Looking forward to LSH to see if pain goes away. I have an elevated CA-125 (been up and down for 2 years following a benign ovary removal), another ovarian cyst and a uterine polyp. I've had Hodgkins Lymphoma twice and Breast Cancer from the radiation treatments. Just hoping everything benign.
Sorry for your pain, but relieved to hear someone else is voicing the same concern.

Re: pain in thighs and groin

I believe I've read somewhere that this can be caused by the fibroids pushing on nerves. I get the same pain on occasion.

Re: pain in thighs and groin

I had the same pain -- it first became really noticeable in late August, when I went for a long hike. The pain was really low down, on the pubic bone itself, and I could not figure out what it could be. I was aware of fibroids because a friend of mine had a LSH last year for them, but I guess I had a not-very-accurate idea of the anatomy, because I thought, "Naaaaw...that pain's way too low!" I thought perhaps it was some sort of groin pull. Well, one PCP visit and one ultrasound later, and guess what, it's fibroids! Is it "normal"? Yeah, I guess, depending on the placement and size and nature of the fibroids, that's exactly the symptom you'd get.

FWIW, I had a LAVH Monday morning and I don't expect to ever have that particular pain again
