Swollen belly

Hello, I am 5 weeks post op, I had a vertical tah, everything came out but one ovary, I lost a lot of blood and needed blood due to the loss, they pulled out a 6lb fibroid. I am a very thin person and finally after having this mass removed my flat belly seemed to be back the love handles gone, although my doc told I really never had love handles it was just everything be squished out. My question is my belly seems to be bigger than two weeks ago, I have started doing more and probably more than I should( I was a very athletic active person prior to surgery), could this puffyness just be a lot of swelling from over doing it to soon?

Re: Swollen belly

I had the swell belly for 5 months. It was worse on days when I did more & by the end was smaller. It did just go away one day. It is inflammation from all the healing you are doing. I hope you feel better soon.

Re: Swollen belly

I'm three weeks out and have the same problem. I too feel I did way too much this weekend. I look like a hot air balloon! Is it something to be concerned about or just something to take it easy for a while and see if the swelling goes down?

Re: Swollen belly

Thank you, I guess I can't go back to being wonder woman right away :-) I woke up this morning after sleeping for 10 hours(wow) and the swelling is down a lot!!! Luckily my kids all slept late this morning :-). - to three week out, that was when I started feeling a little better and thinking I could do a lot more.... Don't over do it!!! You will be down and out for a couple of days if you do!!! Feel better soon!!! I am right there with you :-)

Re: Swollen belly

I'm so glad that my swelly belly is NORMAL. I'm 6 weeks post op and at my post op appointment I mentioned the swelling to my ob/gyn and he said I must be constipated. I even said I had read it was normal and usually got worse by late afternoon. I left that appointment feeling like I needed to switch doctors.

After pulling out a six pound fibroid I would think your body would have some swelling issues! I had my surgery 7/5 and still swell up when I over do it too. I Use my swelly belly band still a little each day (as opposed to pretty much all day when I first got it) the cooling effect it has on my swollen tummy feels really good.

Re: Swollen belly

To new here, if it helps to know I (fortunately) am never constipated and my belly swells like a balloon at five weeks, I love my obgyn and I called her this morning and she concurred overdoing it will cause that swelly belly.

Re: Swollen belly

I m three weeks post op and very upset about my swollen belly and all the pressure I'm having. I'm glad to hear its normal but scared too! I thought I would feel a lot better than I do and I do over do it but I feel if I don't my body will get lazy and not bounce back.

Re: Swollen belly

I started feeling the same way at about 3 weeks, but taking a long walk to my mailbox proved I was in no shape to start doing a lot!! I am now 5 weeks and yesturday did some gardening for about one hour and my bly swelled like a balloon. Before I had all these problems I used to run 5 miles a day, so I feel like a slug right now, so i completely u derstand how u feel. A good friend of mine is a personal trainer and said I will have to ease my way back into running, she said it could be close to a year before I could run 5 miles everyday again, so don't worry, it just takes time :-)

Re: Swollen belly

Between three and four weeks was a turning point for me. Started the three week point feeling the same way you do but about halfway through it noticed I could sit up from my bed without as much effort and pain. I am exactly 4 weeks out today and am so much better than I was last week at this time...
