Surgery is Over

Julie is sleeping off her surgery today, but was alert enough to ask me to drop a note to say she is ok.

Julie's Surgery is Over

Julie glad to hear your surgery went well. Just remember to take one day at a time, you will have good days and you will have some bad ones. Take care of yourself and let the ones that love you help as much as they can!!

Julie's Surgery is Over

From one Julie to another! I also was in the same situation... scheduled an "easy" (not that this is true) laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy which meant one night in the hospital, and back to work in 3-4 weeks. NOT! They got in there and found huge fibroids and adhesions all over the place, and subsequently I underwent TAH and bladder repair due to the adhesion attached to it. Was in the hospital for 5 nights and had to wear the catheter for 10 days bringing on UTI and the drama began... won't go into it, but I am 6˝ weeks out , just went back to work, and am doing "okay".

Julie, you will be sooooooo bummed when you find out you had the big surgery, but, this is the challange you have been given. My best advice is to take one day at a time, rest, rest, rest, and let everybody else do everything for you for now. If you overdo, you will regret it for days. Time will help. It just takes a couple of weeks.

I returned to work this week and was there when my friend/coworker returned this week as well... she recently lost her 14 year old daughter in a tragic car accident. Her life is destroyed, but she is trying to go on. I also have 2 coworkers who are recovering from breast cancer surgery and they are truly fighting for their lives... both are returning to work in the next few weeks. It was a lightbulb moment for me to realize that I WILL RECOVER from my surgery, but my friends may never, ever truly recover from their ordeals. As much as I went through with this surgery, and as bummed and dissappointed that I was that things did not go as I had hoped, I realized how blessed I am...

Julie, I will keep you in my prayers tonight and my prayer will be that you will be blessed with health and happiness... that is the most we can ever hope for. Julie

Julie's Surgery is Over

I appreciate your thoughts and insight.

I came home yesterday and am all in all doing well. I'm a little tender, and occasionally really sore at one spot (maybe where they removed endo). The second day I had a real scare when I went to the bathroom and upon standing up couldn't see. Thankfully my roommates daughter grabbed a chair and sat me down (my night shirt flapping in the breeze just didn't seem that important).

I was nervous after that but 24 hours later walking ok and ok to go home.

I'll know more later this week when the path results are in. The only thing that still confuses me is adyno. The photos she gave me appear to show this on my uterus but the articles I read pre-op all indiacted this was only found with women who had children, I never have.
