Doing GREAT at first - NOW Complications!!

I had my TAH/BSO on October 20. Stayed in the hospital 2 days and I have had no complications until last week. There is a flu bug going around - so one day when I woke up throwing up and having to make numerous trips to the bathroom - I thought nothing of it. 24 hours later - I seemed none worse for the wear. Then a week later - saem thing but even worse. Now, less than a week after that - I'm constantly nauseated and my bowels are going crazy!!! I'm having some pain and tenderness. No bleeding - but my stomach is pretty hard at times (Gas-X does help a bit). But, I don't know if this is the flu just staying or what. Any suggestions?

Also, my hot flashes are a nightmare. I'm having about 4 -5 an hour - and can't sleep through the night. And my sense of smell is through the roof (has anyone experienced that). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I really hate calling my doctor if it's nothing (I fear being that patient that calls and bothers for every little thing).

Re: Doing GREAT at first - NOW Complications!!

I'd call the Dr about those GI problems, they should not be lasting so long. Are you on HRT, or is it an option for you? Sounds like a good time to start the HRT or alternative plan, those hot flashes and lack of sleep can really take it out of you. You can try avoiding things like spicy food, sugar, alcohol, but with that many hot flashes that probably wouldn't control it. A fan and Chillow or similar can help at night. But really, if you opt for HRT, I'd just discuss starting them now, with your Dr. I hate calling the Dr too, but I'd say you have good cause. Let us know what you find out, I hope you feel better soon.
