Day 4 no bm yet, to laxative or not?!?

Opinions on using a laxative today. I've been on stool softeners for 2 days now and used milk of magnesium the other night. High fiber only diet. I had very little come out yesterday, nothing normal. I also had to bowel prep last Tuesday and ate nothing at all on wed. Help!

2 capfuls of Miralx works wonders! I dissolve mine in white grape juice. No gassy side effects or upset stomach. Good luck!

Miralax!!!!! If you don't do something now you will be sorry. Worst thing you can do is get on a constipation cycle. Use it for a few weeks.

I didn't have BM until day seven. Doc had told me to not use laxative right away. Just stool softeners.

I had a BM on day 4. I was taking stool softners 3 times a day. My doctor told me to do milk of mag x 3 days and then to add miralax for a few weeks until I had time to heal and so that my bowels could get back into a routine. I was having terrible pain and pressure when having a BM. I feel so much better now that I am using miralax. It is non habit forming so it's safe to use for an extended amount of time. If you are unsure call your surgeon. Hugs!!!

I was given Natural Laxatives called Senoside B but I do not take them anymore because they made me go all Night and it did not stop the BM from beeing painful
I now start using Fibogel just go soften the stool.

Walking and eating green vegetables really helped me to have a bowel movement today. I was going to but the milk of mag today but I finally went poop.

Unfortunately I waited too long about asking the Doc about being constipated. At my 2 week check up he could barely even check me out because it was so bad. He prescribed a prescription stool softener and told me to do an enema! I think that was more traumatic than the whole surgery!? But after the enema and a couple of days on the softener and I felt SOOOO much better!

I finally went 2/ today not a lot, but enough to not have to be worried about constipation. Stool softeners seem to be working, plus bran cereal and lots of water
