Don't overdo it!

Hi everyone, thought I would share my recent experience to try and save anyone else from potential setbacks. I was 3 weeks post hysterectomy and feeling much better, thinking I had turned a corner in my recovery. I ran down the stairs to try and answer the telephone as was expecting an important call, shortly after, started bleeding heavy and losing clots, turns out I had ruptured internal sutures. After a ticking off from the hospital for doing too much and ordered to rest I'm feeling better. Scared myself silly at the time. Moral of the story is, don't be tempted to do too much as soon as you start to feel better, you MUST take your time. X

Point taken. I'm so glad you are doing better. I hope that wasn't too painful.

Thank you for sharing.... just another reminder for others of how important it is to follow the "do not" do list of restrictions that you were given with your discharge papers. I hope your recovery goes smoothly from here on in.

Take care

Re: Don't overdo it!

Yes, when I started turning corners and feeling so much better, I started thinking of it as "The DANGER Zone". You know.. where they body says "Come on, I feel good today" and my mind would say "HEY,, slow down and THINK"..... I have had to 'stop and think' on more than one occasion about how I move in regards to reaching, bending, twisting, turning... and one that I have read caused more than one sister unnecessary pain was 'early morning stretching in bed' around week 3-4.

Just keep taking it slow and easy, and increase movements and activity VERY slowly. Remember, the story of the tortoise and the hare... slow and steady wins the race on the road to recovery.
