lower right abdominal pain???

It's been 3 weeks since my total hysterectomy. My bladder is being over active at times but is getting better with time. I've been having a throbbing pain in the lower right abdominal area. This started yesterday and hasn't stopped since, it's a mild pain while at rest but when i'm up and walking the pain is worse.
Also i've lost 15lbs, but 7lbs of it was the tumor that was removed with the uterus!!!
I'm so happy to find hystersisters, it's helped me extremely...

pain

to the wonderful world of post op!

I had exactly the pain you were talking about. I even started looking up appendicitis and gall bladder on the internet because I was sure I had something like that.

Since it never got worse, and I never got a fever, I didn't go in-I was seen at 2 weeks, and had an appt scheduled for 4 weeks-the doc was a 2 hour drive away.

It went away, so I assumed it was part of the healing process.

But I think a call in to the doc, or having them look at it is worth the peace of mind that things are healing normally. Especially since you don't know if that could be caused by an infection, etc.

lower right abdominal pain???

Hi,
I too had pain in my abdomen. It could be irritable bowel, a urinary tract infection, or (in my case) a blood clot that is in the ovary vein (not going anywhere I'm told). It could also be scar tissue from the surgery. It is best to call the doc and let them know what's going on. It may be appendicitis (if you still have yours).
Good luck.

lower right abdominal pain???

I'm at almost two weeks, and my doc told me yesterday that the pain I was feeling in my lower right abdomen was most likely the peritoneal lining that had to get sewn up. Apparently, the corners of the incisions are the most painful and the slowest to heal, and he said that it would probably be a noticable pain for a few weeks yet.

lower right abdominal pain

I was talking with the nurse at my gyn office and telling her that my right side was more swollen and more tender than my left. She said that during surgery the doctor uses a clamp to hold the incision open. Usually the side where the clamp is takes longer to heal and hurts more than the opposite side.
I had my hyster on April 28 '05. I am feeling pretty good and starting to take short walks after only 2weeks 4 days! I hope this rate of improvement continues. I know I have to take it easy but I am getting so bored!
Hope you are all well,
KW
