post-lap belly (arghghg!)

so i had a laparoscopy done the other day. my stomach is soooo swolen. the surgery was monday. it's friday now. how long can i expect this? i have NOTHING to wear!!!

With my lap explor surgery I got huge. By the time I had my LSO 16 days later it was gone.

My first laparoscopy was almost 25 years ago but I can still remember that poochie belly. I don't remember how long mine lasted though.
Hope it resolves soon. Hang in there.

I had a lap. hyst., I was very swollen but I don't remember it lasting over 3-5 days. I remember that night when I went home after surgery thinking that my belly was HUGE. Hopefully it will go away soon. Good Luck.

I had my gallbladder out with lap. It took one week, and I was back to normal. The worst was the shoulder pain... apparently the gas floated up to my shoulders.

this just doesn't seem right. it's very alarming. it's bigger now (friday) than it was monday and tuesday. i cannot wear a THING in my closet. this is very upsetting!!! i don't think this is the gas anymore. i didn't even have any gas pain. i'm worried that my organs are swolen. it's kind of what it feels like.

if anyone is out there, please let me know what you think. i am wondering if i should call the doctor this weekend or even go into the ER. as i said, the distention has gotten worse, not better, over the past several days. i did have my first bowel movement today in five days, but that didn't seem to help. is this something i need to be worried about?

It never hurts to call the doctor and leave a message as to your concerns. If he/ she is worth their salt, they won't mind if it turns out to be a normal side effect. If they do mind, I'd be finding myself a new doctor. I think you would feel better if you called ASAP. Then you'll be letting the doctor decide whether you need to go to the emergency room.
