Question about thick endometrium

I never could get an answer from my doctor about this prior to my LAVH. During the past year my endometrium had been very thick. 28-33 mm at various times during the past year. Every endometrial biopsy came back normal. After the last D&C in late October, I only stopped bleeding for 36 hours.

My questions:

Is an endometrial thickness over 30mm unusually thick?
Can the endometrial cells grow back that quickly? Like in the 36 hours post D&C? If not, then what was the source of all the bleeding?

Just so glad to be done bleeding and I'm waiting for the latest pathology reports.

Admins, please move this if I didn't post in the right place.

Re: Question about thick endometrium

Hi! Postmenopausal endometrium should be 4-6mm so yes yours was very thick. I doubt that it can grow back that quickly after a D&C. What most likely happened is that during the D&C the doc did not go down the full 28 mm of endometrium. It's very hard for them to judge how deep they are going. One of the reasons why I decided on hysterectomy was because I didn't trust that the D&C was getting all the endometrium for biopsy and therefore could not rule out cancer. My pathology did come back negative and I was very relieved. I hope you also get good news.

Thanks for responding Mollybear. Each biopsy came back clear, no hyperplasia, but my concerns were the same as yours - did she really get everything? That's why I am anxious for the pathology reports. Was hoping to hear from them today -3 days post-op.
