loooong time healing incision...

hey ladies. =)

i had a laparoscopy in March. the incision towards my left hip is still not healed! my TAH incision (from 4 weeks ago) is healed up better than this one.

it is still very pinkish/red, and has a very small opening where it's still open, and hasn't closed up yet. and it itches like crazy, all the time.

as far as i know, it hasn't been infected. i've kept it clean. i've tried vasoline (tip that a doctor gave me), lotion, and neosporin, and nothing will get it to close up all the way.

this just seems abnormally long for such a small incision to heal.

i'm going to ask my family doctor next week about it. i was just wondering if anyone else has has such a small incision take so long to heal?

thanks.=)

loooong time healing incision...

Hi! Not sure if this helps, but today my Dr. and I discussed a small portion of my TAH incision (6/27) that still oozes a little bit and won't close up.... He said as long as it doesn't get very painful or look red and ugly like it's infected to not worry about it. He said it's an exit for a build up of fluid and when the fluid is gone it will heal. I'm allowed to swim or whatever with it, just keep an eye on it. He couldn't tell me how long it would take to be completely gone. At least I have a use for those leftover pads! I put one in the belly of my underwear just in case it decides to ooze through my pants!!
Good luck! Hope yours is as simple as mine - although I wish it would just heal so I could be done thinking about it!
