Diarrhea and nose bleeds

I'm two days post total hyst. & oopherectomy.
I hardly want to complain, because I was so stopped up prior to my surgery, but now I can't shut it off! Has anyone else had diarrhea post-op?
And my nose keeps bleeding. I'm sure it's from the dry air in the OR, but I wonder if it could be hormone related, too? I had nose bleeds a lot when I was pregnant.
Do you think I should call my doc? Or is this normal?

I had the nose bleeds for about a week after surgery. I am guessing it was from the oxygen they had me on. I was on it for the 23 hours I was in the Castle. I used nasal nose spray to get the moisture back in my nose. Not sure about your other issue, I am constipated off and on.

You're probably getting shots to prevent blood clots (they give them morning and night here while in the hospital) so I wonder if this is aggravating your nose bleeds?

Im not sure about the about the diarrea but have you tried using immodim? Try putting a little vaseline just on the inside of your nose to help with the nose bleeds. My daughter gets them bad and her doctor told me told me this and it helps. I hope it will help you too. Hugs too you!!!Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks! I'm trying the saline spray and Vaseline. I'm still getting the nose bleeds, but not so bad. I took one dose of immodium, and the diarrhea stopped, but now I'm worried I'll be constipated. Lol. I can't win!

I just had a few episodes of violent diarrhea...guess its making up for all if the stool softeners...hope it's done now. Do you think yours was triggered by stool softeners or laxatives?

I had a funny tummy but think it was from the stewed prunes and extra fibre i was taking ...and that was a better alternative for me than constipation.. BUT be sure to stay hydrated (Gatorade, clear juice, water) and check with your doctor if you are feeling weak.
As or nosebleeds, i have hardly had any in my life .. And have had about 6 since my surgery.. Often both nostrils and all came on without warning. I also think it's the dry, colder air although i had 2 in the shower! as well as being more susceptible following surgery.. And agree a nasal mist helps

I had been taking laxatives for a couples weeks prior to the surgery. I feel like I might have had a partial obstruction that was relieved by the surgery, and now things are definitely flowing!
