Upcoming hysterectomy 1/13: A very Serious Discussion! (children mentioned)

Hey Ladies!
Well surgery is next Tuesday on the 13th... Tonight at dinner my husband and I were discussing the "game plan" for the next week and although we explained to my step kids while they were visiting for winter break about my surgery I did tell my six year old I was having surgery but tonight was a little different. Tonight my son asked about going to the zoo and I said "sweetie we have to put the zoo on hold for a few weeks because next Tuesday mommy has to have her surgery and it's going to take some time for mommy to be able to walk around the zoo again" and then the alligator tears welled up and I almost lost it too but he quickly recovered and looked over to his step dad that he calls dad and said "dad we have to take an eye (keep an eye) on mommy so we can go to the zoo. I have to get some lion and zebra time in!" I have never laughed so hard and I realized right there that I have been so scared about this surgery and for the first time in a few days I had no anxiety or stress. I am going to hold on to that moment through this surgery and recovery when I am feeling anxious and stressed. I know that he will probably have more questions the closer the day comes but at least for tonight he was more concerned about his Lions and Zebras! I hope everyone else gets to have a moment like this to take away the reality of surgery and just enjoy a fun moment!
