Depressed (Pregnancy and Children Mentioned)

I became pregnant last year and was told that I would have to have a D&C. So in January of last year I had the procedure and 6 months after I noticed a constant pain and realized I hadn't had a period for about 5 months. I called the Dr.s office that performed the D&C and told them that I had not had a period and the nurse in the background told the nurse on the phone "Oh tell her not to worry it will come when it come. So one night the pain was so severe I decided to go to the emergency room and was told that due to the D&C I had internal bleeding into my fallopian tubes and ovaries because my uterus had sealed up which is called Asherman's Syndrome which triggered my appendix and caused me to have an emergency surgery to remove my appendix. After the surgery I was referred to my gyno and he explained that during the D&C the Dr. vigorously scraped my uterus caused it to seal and caused me to bleed internally and that I would have to have a laproscopy/hysteroscopy done. After that procedure I continued to have terrible pain. So more test were done and they found out that my uterus had grown into the size of a baseball which is normally supposed to be the size of a lemon because I have a huge fibroid tumor and also endometriosis. Now I am due for a total hysterectomy. I am a 41 year old woman who has children but since I have already given birth the Dr. who performed the D&C made a statement that since I already have children i shouldnt have anymore because of my age. I asked why since I am healthy and theres lots of women my age and older that has them! I also made a statement to him is it because I am not rich and famous because people of that nature become pregnant all the time! Of course he had no answer for me...I am very upset that it has come to this because I have never suffered cramps or anything.

Re: Depressed

Hi. I'm so sorry to hear what you have gone through. I understand how those words from the doctor could hurt. You are right, women in their 40's can still be healthy enough to have children!

You will find lots of comfort and support here and many women who have been where you are. I'm glad you found this site and I hope things get better for you soon.

Best wishes!

Re: Depressed (Pregnancy and Children Mentioned)

It is just so much to try to process, isn't it? When it isn't expected, or wanted, when you weren't necessarily feeling done using it...I am just so sorry. It must be especially hard to have to do this after a miscarriage. I am very sorry for what you are experiencing.
There are many threads here in regards to how some people feel like just because a woman has a child, or children, that it should somehow be "easier" to lose your uterus. And while most of us acknowledge that we have been blessed and are thankful for our children, it doesn't make losing the chance to have any ever again (through our bodies) any easier.
I would encourage you, if you haven't already, to go check out the aching hearts forum. There are many women here who are mourning, and processing and trying to figure it all out.
I'm so glad you found the website. It's okay to feel sad, and scared, and upset, and confused. But be encouraged. You aren't alone in this!
XOXOX
