Stool softeners

Anyone else still taking stool softeners? I had a LAVH on 4/18 still not eating much but trying to eat fiber and drink lots of fluids--but still taking the stool softeners as it still hurts to "go". Doctor says it is ok to continue use of them, but wondering if anyone else still feels the need to use them?

I did not use them at all I just took my daily 2 fiber tablets and did not have any problems. but I am not normal I think. if your dr said that it was ok to still take them then you do what is working for you. best of luck to all on recovery

nytxnh,
I am so obsessed with "going", that I still take them. Until I can get my regular exercise routine in, I know I will need to keep taking them.
Your procedure was 3 days after mine so I wouldn't doubt you still need them. As long as you don't OD on them, it's fine.
IMHO anyway. If the doctor isn't worried, you are A-OK! ~

I am also still taking the stool softeners, but only as needed. I agree that until I can get back to my usual exercise routine, I'm gonna probably be taking them or some type of fiber pills.

I took mine for about 3 weeks. Even now if I've noticed I haven't gone in a few days I take one or two to be on the safe side. I don't want to hurt myself if you know what I mean.
