Perineal PAIN! TVH w/A&P
OOOOOoooWwwwiiiiEEEE!!!
That's my perineum screaming! Actually for some odd reason just the left side of my perineum (scratching my head).
The generalized swelling is going down *down there* but the left side of the labia / perineal area is harder to the touch and not softening as quickly. Does that make sense? The skin is smooth and stretched and under the skin it feels super firm, like a GIANT spider bite? Like two inches long and 1/2 inch wide, bordered on the one side by the stitches themselves...and also the discharge is just gross. Pinkish brown and smelly! I've done some research here and that part seems normal-ish
I have my first re-check (7 days out) tomorrow so I'll ask doc about all of it then... but ooowwwie! I did a sitz bath today followed by ice, which seems to have helped some.
I do still have the catheter in and it's angled toward the left side (leaning across the area in question) and then exits my huge cotton granny panties but I suppose it's possible that it has contributed. I should be having the cath removed tomorrow. That's the plan anyway, it depends on whether my bladder cooperates. My bowels are cooperating so I have high expectations for my bladder...
Anyone else care to share the details of their perineal swelling? (now there's a question I never expected to post public)

Perineal PAIN! TVH w/A&P
Tracey,
I had a catheter for two weeks. (removed and put back in two different times because my bladder just wouldn't cooperate)
Everything in my perineal area was very sore, swollen and irritated for quite some time - AND I had a day of blood in my urine due to the catheter irritatating my bladder.
Everything calmed down pretty quickly after the cath came out but I don't know if that was just a coincidence. Check with your Doc tomorrow, he'll know what's what. I'm at 4 weeks today and things feel pretty "normal" down there now - just waiting for stitches to dissolve.
I also had the pinkish brownish smelly discharge, actually, I still have it, only now it's very light. I just did the best I could keeping things clean several times a day with baby wipes and changing my pad often - that really seemed to help.
Take care of you.

Perineal PAIN! TVH w/A&P
Turns out it's an infected incision. YUCK! He squeezed the 'hard part' SSOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo hard today to get the pus out! YOWZA I saw STARS! Now I'm on 2 high strength antibiotics and have to do sitz baths ever couple hours... and go back tomorrow morning for him to look at again (probably squeeze again, yikes!) I hope the sitz bath thing works.......
