Appetite still diminished

I'm 9 days post op. I got my stitches out today, and I've lost 8lbs since surgery! That's not a lot since I'm still in my normal weight range, but I still haven't eaten a "meal" the gas pains are to hurrendous, so ive eaten a lot of activia, Peanut butter sandwiches..and rice.. on top of that I just don't have much of an appetite! My mom came over and cooked me a wonderful southern meal when I was 6 days post op.. I was in pain the rest of the day and night is or has anyone else had this problem with gas/no appetite. The weight loss is nice, but I want a good yummy meal

Re: Appetite still diminished

the first 2 weeks, I didn't want to eat.. I lived on water.. lol I ate some meals and I lost almost 14 pounds ( didn't hurt me any need to lose more lol )
Now in the 3 weeks going on 4week.. I can't get enough to eat, I gained 4 pounds.. lol
The gas pains were bad up to a few days ago, they don't hurt as much or bad.
I'm not a doctor, but, I wouldn't eat anything spicy, gassy, or greasy for a while, that may help you.

Re: Appetite still diminished

I had a diminished appetite for the first three weeks. I can still only eat small meals, as I get a very bloated feeling right under my rib cage if I eat too much. The hardest part right now is that I have my appetite back, but it's painful if I eat too much.
The nurses in the hospital told me to chew gum often, as this helps your digestive track.

Re: Appetite still diminished

I have no appetite. I am 8 days post op. I am feeling altogether lethargic and lost though so I think that might be part of it for me.
