Re: seven months post op
Sending support to You both! Getting back to work in the last 6 weeks can certainly make one feel overwhelmed. I am about 7 months post op-- I think I know what you mean about the feelings you mentioned - "sort of who am I now?" I have had to close my business (not due to my hysterectomy but during it)and while I love my family my identity is being re-established as I am no longer working and well I feel better yet different! I think hormones can play a role because I have had times where I cry at everything and then Im not that way at all- happy as a clam and wonder why I was blue the day before- sometimes I am really tired and feel plain and invisible (is it from society's messages to women of a certain age IDK!) - and I miss feeling 'part of the action'-- lots of changes to our bodies too . Take time to be kind to yourself, rest your mind and spirit and know that you are not alone. (((HUGS)))

Re: seven months post op
Welcome, Yolandas and Other Sisters,
I just received a notice from HysterSisters, and realized I am exactly seven months out today!! I was just telling my husband yesterday that it doesn't even seem like I had the hysterectomy - I think the anesthesia lasted longer that expected
I had the TAH, keeping my ovaries. I am so glad you found this site because everyone is wonderful and caring!!
Please don't think you're going crazy. I'm no expert, just experienced at the surgery and I have discovered that each woman recovers in her own way, and I want to express that I hope you feel no shame.
I believe it took awhile for my ovaries to kick back in. My Dr said they're pretty shriveled but looked healthy so she left them in at my request.
She didn't put me on HRT because she wanted to give my ovaries time to adjust.
Just over the past couple of weeks I feel like I'm going crazy - over the edge crazy. DH and I have discussed the fact that it's time to go back to my doctor and come up with a HRT plan for me. I don't know if I can say this, but I watched Robin McGraw on Oprah, and they talk about different types of treatments.
Do you have any close friends that you can share with about how you're feeling? If not, please come here often because we've either been through it, or are going through it.
Take good, gentle care of yourself and know we are here,
Judy

Re: seven months post op
Thanks Juelz,
I do have some close friends that I can share with but its good to share with others that have had similar experience. I had an ovarian tumor 3.2kg, which turned out to be borderline cancer all happened very quickly and the experience was very traumatic up till now have been very focused on my physical well being and now the emotional stuff is flooding in have arranged to have some sessions with a therapist which I think I will benefit from. Appreciate your support.
