Dear sisters,
The bladder really is effected during surgery because of its location - it may have been pushed, moved, relocated...this is why you may notice spasms and pain. Some feel the urge to go to the bathroom all the time while others have to remind themselves to go. Just keep drinking water which will help flush out impurities and the meds used during surgery. Water also gets your bowels moving. Try walking just a bit too when you are up to it.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Feb 16-Feb 22,2015
My surgery was yesterday morning. I was worried about being able to urinate, but that went well. Instead I struggled with nausea. I did ok in the hospital and they gave meds for it. By the time I got home it hit me like a train and the vomiting started. Worst time to vomit ever. It stopped about 9:00pm. I did no take pain meds until this morning out of fear. Thankfully I am feeling much better today. Yes, there is pain, but I could tolerate it without meds. With meds it is so much better. I am hopeful to be off them in a few days. Praying for all of us and our recovery.

New Painful Leg cramps since Feb 2015 surgery - Any Advice?
Welcome Sandcastle97,
Sorry to hear about the nausea. You might want to have Ginger and peppermint candies and tea on hand.
Your body needs to concentrate on healing so see how you feel as far as the pain meds go. We all heal and feel pain differently, so please be open to the possibility you might need your pain meds a bit longer than you anticipate.
Try to drink as much water as you can and rest!
So happy you made it to the other side - feel better.

New Painful Leg cramps since Feb 2015 surgery - Any Advice?
Hi Girls,
I had a LAVH with remaining tubes removed, ovaries still intact on 2/17/15. So far so good. I know it has only been 24 hours, but I feel very well. I was released two hours after surgery (on my account, I was able to eat and pee shortly after waking up). I am extremely active (hike mountains, run, workout, bike), but I'm taking it very easy. I am fortunate to have my husband at home and my mom staying with us. We have a 7 year old, and her friends moms have been helpful too. Everyone knows I will overdue it if I don't have a support group.
I am slightly uncomfortable, but not really in pain. My periods were so unbelievably painful & heavy-menorrhagia/adenomyosis) that this just feels like I did too many crunches with menstrual cramps. I've had 3 other abdominal surgeries, and with this one I don't even feel the Co2 gas nearly as bad.
I've been able to urinate. No problem, but I've on a liquid diet pre surgery and still today, so I haven't produced a BM yet. I am drinking "smooth move" tea, prune juice, and taking Colace, but with out much in there to "pass." I expect later or tomorrow morning (hopefully).
I slept on my side night one, with help from some pillows, as I'm not a back sleeper. And it felt ok. I've been walking around house a lot to keep things moving, but resting with legs up and ice pack.
I think the mental preparation is much worse than the other side. I am fairly encouraged, and wishing the same to all the other Sisters.

New Painful Leg cramps since Feb 2015 surgery - Any Advice?
Today is my first day after surgery. I didn't sleep much last night but the pain is more manageable than I expected. I'm trying to walk some today in the house to try to get the gas from the surgery out. The Gas X helps some but it's still hurting. I'm trying to take it easy, but I hate being still! LOL! I hope everyone else is doing alright.
