Aunt Flo & Surgery

I am waiting for my Dr. to call and give me 'instructions' but am curious about anyone else's experience. I have been on BCP for 3 mos to try to help with pain and bleeding. Am currently ending Week 2 of my last pack....surgery is two weeks from today.....do the math....i should be on the 'sugar pills' the week of surgery. Anyone know the "norm" for having surgery the week of your period?

It shouldn't matter, but do check with your doctor.

A lot of ladies (myself included) are on their periods when they have surgery. As my doctor explained it, if he had to wait for a woman not to be bleeding to operate, no one would ever have surgery. Some women bleed continuously.

Just tell the nurses when you go in for surgery. They'll give you a pad and a pair of mesh panties. And don't be embarrassed. The surgical team's used to it.

I've been there and done that, it doesn't matter. I would make sure to ask your doctor anyway though because they may have some special issues with that or objections although I doubt so.
