Question about Leaving Home
Okay, I get that I am not to do anything, and after all the wonderful replies on here about what can happen if I do to much to soon... I think I will just keep myself curtailed. What I want to know though is, is it alright if someone picks me up and takes me to church for me to go. I am 10 days post op and would really like to get out of the house. All I would be doing is going from one place to the next and sitting. I can't imagine how any of this would cause me to do something I shouldn't be as I was not told to stay in bed. Any comments??

Question about Leaving Home
I think much of that would depend on how YOU feel.
Do you feel ok being awake for any stretch of time?
How do you feel sitting for any length of time.
Listen to your body and let it tell you how to treat it.
Unless of course your doctor said you should not leave the house, I dont see any problem with going to church if your body is feeling up to it.

Question about Leaving Home
Hi,
Unless your doctor told you not to leave the house I do not see why not. My Doctor told me to walk out when ever I wanted, just not to go to far incase I got tired. I also had friends over who brought lunch, and rented movies. I am a true believer in honoring your body. You know what you feel you can and cannot handle. Be safe and be smart and you will be fine!

Question about Leaving Home
I would say just bring a pillow to sit on! Those pews would be murder for me right now, even sitting on my desk chair for too long is impossible now. With a pillow and you not driving, sounds like a good plan to get some time with other human beings again!!!

Question about Leaving Home
Hi- My doc told me not to leave the house for a week. After that, short outings were OK (as I felt up to it). I would have liked to go to church, but couldn't imagine sitting comfortably enoughfor the hour or so. I personally would have felt more comfortable if I could leave if I had to, or if the church has a comfortable room or area to sit if you needed it.

Question about Leaving Home
Call you doc and ask. He knows what he did during your surgery and what limits he has you on. I would think you could go if YOU feel up to it. I went grocery shopping 6 days post op with dh, he lifted and all...I just walked alongside and did ok. But it depends on what you had done and your own restrictions. Call the doc's office and ask the nurse...that way you know for sure
Good luck and I hope you get to go

Question about Leaving Home
I wouldn't have been able to go to my church because of all the stairs. If your church doesn't have stairs, I think you could probably do it.
I was also very cautious about using public washrooms until I was healed up well, inside and out.

Question about Leaving Home
Anita,
This may sound crazy - but I went to a Rascal Flatts concert on day 12 with my 13 year old DD, her best friend and my best friend. I did not drive, and I called ahead and had a wheel chair waiting for me at the car and used it to get around the entire time. It was wonderful to get out and watch my DD and how much she enjoyed our time together. I would not have set out to do this soooo soon, but we bought the tickets prior to my surgery. It was great and I just rested prior and after and did nothing else. The following day I was exhausted, so be prepared and listen to YOUR body and DR

Question about Leaving Home
I know exactly how you feel. In fact, I would feel great at home with energy. Last week I even got in the car and thought I feel soo good. Then about an hour and a half into my road trip, I was tired. It's amazing how great you feel at first (especially in our nest) and then the fatigue sets in. I think it's ok to go out, but agree with the rest of the sisters, when you feel tired or pain - go home! Listen to your body - it talks back!
