4 weeks post hysterectomy: Pressure on my chest

Hi I am on my 4 week recovery from a TAH (with out the removal of my ovaries) and I have been experiencing a real bad pressure feeling on my chest almost feels like I can't breath at times? My husband says its anxiety. Has anyone had this problem?

Re: Pressure on my chest

I would get it checked out. Blood clots often feel like pressure.

Re: Pressure on my chest

My suggestion is to try to reach your surgeon or go to the ER. It may be anxiety, but that can also be a symptom of a pulmonary embolism. If it is an embolism you will need immediate attention. Don't put it off. It's always better to err on the side of caution.

I'm glad you're getting checked. Better safe than sorry. Being post op raises your risk.

And even if it is anxiety, then perhaps you may want to explore that. However, first thing's first. Make sure you don't have an embolism. That will give you some peace of mine. Keep us posted.

Horlana,

I am VERY glad to see you are seeking out medical attention right away for your symptom.
I agree completely with those who posted above that this warrants IMMEDIATE care.

Ignoring, or taking a "wait & see" approach to a symptom like pressure on the chest following surgery is extremely risky in my opinion.

If it does happen to be anxiety, that should not necessarily be ignored either.
There are excellent short term & long term medications your Dr can subscribe to help with those symptoms as well.

Best wishes & much good health to you! Please let us know how things turn out.
