After 4 yrs. I'm getting nervous

Hi ladies,

It's been 4 yrs. since I had my TAH(one ovary left) and I'm starting to gain weight in my lower abdomen like before the surgery. Could I be growing tumors or cysts again? I'm going to the dr. soon, but can someone shed some light?

I'm sorry you're experiencing this.

If you still have an ovary, then I suppose it's more than possible for further cysts to develop, especially if you're prone to them? As for fibroids, they can (rarely) regrow on the cervix but, as you don't have yours, I don't see how that's possible.

Can't tell you about fibroids, never had them. Could be a cyst though. I had one removed almost 5 weeks ago. I was having a lot, and I mean A LOT of swelling in my pelvic area. Once he got rid of the cyst, the swelling stopped. Well, guess what? I've had pain, again on the right side where the first cyst was, for the past few weeks. Gradually increasing. The last week has been like just before my lap to remove the other cyst. Pain pain and more pain. Today is just awful, and last night I realized that I was swollen yet again!! I tell ya, us women get put thru alot! I have a post op with my gyn next week. Get to go tell him the pain started again. woopee.

Thank you for your concern and response. I will let you know what my dr tells me, but he did leave my cervix, so I quess the fibroids could have returned. I'll pray that they haven't. Thanks again

My one and only enormous fibroid was growing off my cervix but, due to complications, the cervix had to be left. I live with that worry of the fibroid returning but cling to the fact that it's rare!

If your cervix was left then you had an SAH (supracervical abdominal hysterectomy) not a TAH (total abdominal hysterectomy).
