abnormal pap smear after hysterectomy

I had an abnormal Pap a year after my hyst....last April. My GYN/ONC said he would check again in 6 months (Oct '08) and at that time would do an HPV test.

Everything turned out fine after my October visit. I blamed it on stress (as my Dad had just passed away after suffering 3 agonizing months from an acute stroke), as well as the fact that I had come down with a horrible cold to boot.

Many things can cause an abnormal PAP, the next step is usually HPV testing at the next visit.

Hope all goes well with you and try not to worry too much. Unfortunately, I worried for 6 months over nothing, but better nothing than something, right?

I had a pap smear on 3/24 I have not heard from my doctor in regards to the results. I mean it's now 4/3, it should not take this long for results for a pap! Or can it?

Well, I got my results and everything was fine. Dr. said it probably was abnormal due to the changes after my hysterectomy, so I am glad about that. If I were you lady2009, I would call the Dr. office and ask, just to ease your mind. Take care,
