Post Op Update/Staple Removal

Hello Ladies. Had my first post op visit Thursday. Everything looks good, the staple removal did not hurt at all. Honestly, that scared me, considering how far 'down' they went. So, hopefully that little tidbit helps someone.
I was given information on natural forms of HRT. I was using a progesterone cream prior to surgery on days 14-28 of my cycle. Not clear on how I would use it now but I have the info. As of right now, I'm opting to not use anything...of course, that may change and I will continue to read and learn. I was told to continue to rest and to return in 4 weeks for more blood work (to check my iron levels) but nothing was mentioned about driving or anything else for that matter. On the way home (the dr is an hr from my home) we stopped at the school uniform store to exchange something for our son, grabbed a bite to eat and I was exhausted by the time we reached home. The following morning I got up, showered (2 DAYS IN A ROW!!) to accompany my sister to an appt for our dad that I had scheduled with a neurologist (dad was dx w/Parkinsons). Hubby and sis did not want me to go, but I had to. I'm dad's primary caregiver and although I trust my sister completely, I felt I had to be there to give my input and hear w/my own ears. (plus my 81 yr old daddy calls me his beautiful daughter, worth it all!). Anyway, the two days in a row wiped me out which is why I'm just posting now.

Re: Post Op Update/Staple Removal

Glad that the staple removal went well. I didn't have that but it would be a scary thought. A busy couple of days for you. Make sure you rest for a couple of days. It is nice to do something normal like eat out. Hope your Dad is doing ok. Always hard with older parent issues. My mom was out of state so it was always a challenge to get there but I wouldn't have missed any of her appts.

Re: Post Op Update/Staple Removal

I was surprised too that the staple removal didn't hurt. I have a 9" vertical scar, and another 3" scar on my left side for my chemo port- total of 28 staples. I was sweating bullets when I went in for my post-op staple removal, but it did not hurt at all. Don't get frustrated about not having lots of energy- it takes months to get that back. Just take one day, and then one week at a time.
