post op bleeding
Hello,
I am so pleased to find this web site. I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. I am 6 days post op and have been doing a little spotting ever since I had my surgery. The Dr. said this was normal. My question is that the bleeding has increased to the point that I think I may need to wear a light days pad. My temperature has pretty much run normal up to 99.7 once. Except for the bleeding I'm feeling as fairly well. I was wondering if anyone else had this type of bleeding or if I should call the Dr.

post op bleeding
If you're only 6 days post op and have spotting, it doesn't sound like a problem. Obviously if you start a flow or it increases suddenly, call your DR.
When you visit this sight you will discover that there are lots of different bleeding situations. I'm almost 8 weeks post op and bleeding (bright red) about every 3 or 4 days...but it seems related to granulation (which is simply over-aggressive scar tissue that develops). Again, when you see your DR - which you'll probably be doing soon - make sure you ask and also ask what other types of bleeding you might "expect".
Keep in touch.

post op bleeding
Hi- call your Doc if you're worried but I had spotting on and off through about 4.5 weeks- sometimes less sometimes more.
(even after my appointment where Doc said everything was healed up very nicely.) I had more if I was doing too much. Then I would get more rest and it would lessen.
My instructions from the hospital said to go to the ER if I was going through two regular pads in and hour with bright red bleeding and clots.
I still worried but it kept me from freaking out.
Maybe you should ask your Doc what level of bleeding you should be concerned about- but my non-medical opinion is a light -days pad would be very usual.
Good luck- rest and get plenty of pampering and fluids.
Your body is working while you are resting- flushing wounds and healing, dissolving stitches etc. Make sure you are giving it what it needs.

post op
to the wonderful world of Post-Op. Chances are, if you have the question, someone else has experienced it, or has the same question.
If you go to Checkpoints on the purple bar, you will find some information on post-op bleeding that might help further too.

Hello Karlac
I am only 2 weeks 3 days post op and I had that same question about 1 week pst op from a TAH+Ovaries. I had a lot of pain as well and ended up in the ER. They ran lots of test to be sure but all was ok. They said the bleeding...sometimes heavy can come and go for about 6-8 weeks. Sometimes the bleeding gets so bad I feel like taking stock in the company just to get some money back. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Talk to your MD on your next visit and mention it just in case. If you pass any clots I would put a call into your MD. Only you know your body...if it doesn't feel right then call.
Hope you feel better soon. Get lots of rest and take care.

Thanks
Thanks to everyone for your reply's. I've been lucky that I have seemed to have a fairly easy time this week. My husband ..who was supposed to be my helper threw his back out on day 3 post op and has been flat on his back in bed since. He's on his own because I can't help him. I had stocked my freezer with frozen dinners before surgery so that is how we have been getting by. My Mom is making the long drive today to re-supply us and do some cleaning for me. I have spent my days between short walks outside and resting at my new home on the sofa or recliner. I have neighbors and friends who have come and helped when needed so we are getting by. The only complaint has been the bleeding so I feel much better knowing that it is normal and I will keep and eye out for any changes. And don't worry...I am taking care of myself and not overdoing it.
