pleasantly surprised

Dec 20th, TVH. I am pleasantly surprised that I'm doing so well. I read so many horror stories & I've experienced NOTHING negative. I stayed overnite @ the hospital where the staff were dynamic & wonderful. My body functions are fine & i have minimum bleeding. I can't walk or stand on my feet for very long. I discovered feeling cramps & fatigue in my legs. Nurse gave me a nice painkiller the day I left for home, I wished I knew what it was due to later script issues. Day 2 thru 4 post-op...resting, eating lightly, computer games & wander around the house a bit is all I can do. i live on 2nd floor of house & find that i can't go downstairs, either...too much too soon. As for pain, Tylenol 3 or Extra Strength Excedrin. I wished I hadn't even filled that script for Oxycontin. i took one pill & it pushed me into a rage. I have no idea what kind of reaction that was. but overall, I'll take 2 weeks of weakness in exchange for no pain. 2nd day post-op, I had a dull headache that was right on top of my head, weird.

Re: pleasantly surprised

I have had trouble and pain, but overall none of the horrible things I thought might happen have yet and mentally I feel so great, so relieved, so hopeful. I'm really surprised. A long road ahead, but absolutely no regrets!

Good luck on the rest of your recovery

Re: pleasantly surprised

Good to hear you are doing well. I had a TVH on Dec 16 and am doing fairly well as well. In bed on a heating pad as I type with Advil but keeping the pain bearable. I know I have to take it easy for a few weeks and let the body heal which is the hardest part for me as I am not used to relaxing. This is the one time I have to do this for me. Hope you do the same.

Re: pleasantly surprised

5th day ending. Gas pains & yes, had a BM that's the only complaints. I live on 2nd floor of house, so getting up & down does seem to pull on those inner muscles...yea, I know...cause I went down them the 2nd day only to have inner cramps later in the afternoon. Today went to store...came home & took a 1 1/2 hr nap...i was wiped out! But, able to stand off & on to cook Christmas dinner goodies. My 14 yr old finished kneading the dough for our homemade bread. So far, so good!
