How things are after 6weeks post Op. 1/13/2010

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to keep you posted as to how I am 6 weeks into my recovery from my partial hysterectomy, kept the ovaries!
I am pain free from the incision. Unless, I touch above the scar then it still a tiny bit sore. Directly below my scar is a bit numb.
I am sexually active and everything feels normal (including from my husband point of view) and pain free!!
I have started to exercise and lifting light weights.
Unfortunately, it still doesn't feel right when it comes to urinating. For some reason it still is uncomfortable when urinating. I told that to my doctor when I went see him last time and he said for me to call him if it got any worse. It hasn't gotten any better either....... A month after my surgery, I was also experiencing a throbbing pain in my left kidney. I had some left over antibiotics from an old UTI and I took them and I felt so much better after a couple of days! I am pain free from that as well!
A week or so after my surgery I experienced itchiness on my palms and feet.. that went away after a week. I went for blood work to find out why I was having all that itchiness and they were not able to determine a reason.....

Thanks to all!! Hugs and kisses.

Hi Lailap,
Glad to see you are on your way to feeling much better. I too am 6 weeks post op this week. Seeing my surgeon on Thursday then I can start getting them abdominal muscles to work again. There is still slight tenderness around the incision and I have numbness and slight swelling on the tummy. I find the tummy swells at the end of the day when I have been doing housework etc. I just listen to my body when I feel I have done too much and have a rest. Apart from that I feel really good. I have felt quite well right through the recovery and I put that down to the HRT implant which was inserted at the same time as the operation otherwise I would of gone through the surgical menopause. The implant consists of Eastrogen and Testesterone so my libido it good. We have had intercourse 3 times now and it was fine, we were both a little apprehensive which is expected but it was good, so no worries there. I drove the car yesterday for the first time and no problems. I have my independence back. Hopefully next week I am going to return to work part-time and see how it goes. Still get tired and wake up in the night for comfort reasons but I have a lovely soft beanie pillow that my tummy sinks into and that makes a difference. I have a also ordered a tummy support band that helps to protect your tummy muscles, that should be arriving today. I had a total hysterectomy and bladder suspension. No more peeing my pants but I still have some sensitivity in that region when I pass urine. I think that is normal. My scar looks fantastic. I put that down to the fact that from day 1, when I showered I dried the incision with the hair dryer instead of using a towel to pat it, therefore, can help stop any infections. A good tip for newbies. This site is fantastic for us to share our experiences. Much love,
Shaz,
xxxx
