Travel 2 weeks post Da Vinci?

My surgeon had an opening come up on May 2 and offered to me rather than his next opening in mid-June. I already have a airline ticket to go from CA to Ohio for my sister's wedding shower on May 16.

My surgeon says I should be fine to travel 2 weeks after surgery. He says the Da Vinci method has pretty fast recovery. I am having uterus and 1 ovary removed.

I want to believe him but just not sure. I don't want to miss my sister's shower since I am one of the hosts.

Has anyone travelled this quickly after a da vinci method?

Re: Travel 2 weeks post Da Vinci?

By 2 weeks post i was doing pretty good. I know there are some who had issues but I healed really fast with DvH...
The biggest thing would make sure you do not lift things (suitcases) and get some rest (plane sleep does not count)...Tiredness hits often afterward.

Re: Travel 2 weeks post Da Vinci?

I suggest that you look at the post-op threads and see for yourself. On many of my recovery threads, ladies who have the daVinci are not healing as fast as the doctors seem to be telling them. There are a few that seem to recovery faster but from what I have seen, they are few and far between.

Re: Travel 2 weeks post Da Vinci?

Two weeks after my daVinci I think I would have been fine to fly. As stated, be sure someone else carries your luggage, even if you have one on wheels. You may not be able to wear your regular clothes at that point, so be sure you have something you can be comfortable wearing to the wedding. And rest, rest, rest, as much as possible, so you can enjoy the events.

You will have to see for yourself how it goes. Everyone is different. Best of luck!

Re: Travel 2 weeks post Da Vinci?

Also, keep in mind that you'll be moving much slower than usual and will tire easily. Try to pre-board the plane and get there early so you can rest often on your way through and sit by the window so you won't have people banging into you.

You should be fine, but you'll be very very tired when you arrive.
